Adapted from the hugely successful thriller by Gillian Flynn, David Fincher’s latest effort, Gone Girl, looks to be another excellent adaption from the director. Featuring, as ever, his trademark clinical aesthetic, the trailer perfectly captures the intelligent and at times beautifully ironic nature of its source novel.
Ben Affleck stars as Nick Dunne, whose wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) disappears seemingly without a trace. Nick is forced to both search for his wife and protest his innocence, which comes under close scrutiny when Nick appears to be strongly implicated in her disappearance. Affleck is perfect casting as Nick Dunne: the eternally affable good-looking husband whose boyish and immature nature bring his actions into question. Fincher too, in his ability to create some truly flawless thrillers, is well matched with the source material.
