Crazy, Stupid, Love – trailer review

Genuinely good romantic comedies are few and far between: barring the excellent When Harry Met Sally and(500) Days of Summer, most rom-coms are lazy and dull, frequently presenting an irritatingly overly-idealised view of romance, a view which is impossible to reconcile with real life.

Crazy, Stupid, Love could, albeit tentatively, be that rare thing: a good rom-com. The premise may not be overly original, but with a formidable cast that includes Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone and Marisa Tomei,

Crazy, Stupid, Love is certainly the best-cast romantic comedy to date.

Whether its well-chosen cast can help to raise its premise above the other sub-standard films that so heavily populate the rom-com genre remains to be seen, here’s hoping the promise of the trailer doesn’t disappoint.
